Typically, beauty products include a section on their label that lists all of the ingredients that are used in the making of the product. What it is?
One very important point to understand is that hyaluronic acid is produced naturally in the human body, mainly in the eyes and joints. Its purpose is to aid in the growth and renewal of cells. This is why it makes a great anti aging product.
There are two different ways that hyaluronic acid is harvested to make medicines and serums; the first way is extraction from the comb of a rooster, the second way is produced through bacteria in a laboratory.
In both cosmetic and medical uses, hyaluronic acid does not remain in the body after it has served its purpose because the body naturally breaks it down. This being said, most treatments require repeat applications.
What is is used for?
There are several things that this acid can be and is used for. It can be taken for certain joint disorders such as osteoarthritis; in this case it can be taken by mouth or injected directly into the joint site. It is also used during certain eye surgeries, these include cataract removal, corneal transplants, and the repair of a detached retina.
Another use is a cream or serum that helps to heal burns, skin ulcers, and other wounds, it is also used a moisturizer. Last but certainly not least, it is now being used to help reduce the signs aging. This last one is where the new serums come in.
Types of Hyaluronic Acid Serums
There are two main types of Hyaluronic acid serums; water-based and lipid-based. The water-based formula is used for normal and combination skin while the lipid-based formula is designed for dry and/ or more mature skin. A lipid, in case you don’t know, is fatty acids.
